Parties

All of our official parties will be in Limehouse Town Hall in East London. The closest tube is Limehouse on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR). We also have an unofficial pre-party at Jamboree (also in Limehouse) and an after party at The Balboa Café in central London near Holborn and Tottenham Court Road tube stops. We’ll publish more tips on the transport options for visitors closer to the time.

Pre Party

This is our unofficial kick-off. Home to The Cable Street Rag Band, Jamboree is a dive bar with great atmosphere. A bar and music venue first and foremost but every Thursday swing dancers descend upon it to move to great sounds. Not much space but you’ll go home with a grin on your face and probably a gin in your face too…

The door fee is £5 but note that this all goes to the band (one of the reason it’s our favourite London weekly event). We’ll be operating a registration desk by the entrance for anyone who wants to get their wristband for the rest of the weekend early.

Friday night party

Friday is the first of our official parties; we’ll run until 1am and registration will be available all evening. Meet the teachers and shuffle your way into the start of the weekend.

Our band for the night will be Nell and the Hot Mess Muggers.

For all of the official parties our venue is Limehouse Town Hall a shabby chic institutional space dating from the late 19th century. We’ll have a bar open all night. DJs are yet to be announced (watch this space).

Saturday night party

Saturday night’s party is our dress to impress night. Dress vintage or dress modern, but dress up! We’ll be open until 2am and again the bar will be open until midnight. We’ll also have a teacher demo and a fast foot competition to help spice up your evening.

Our band for the night will be The Andreas Hofschneider Quintet.

As with all of our official parties we’re at Limehouse Town Hall.

DJs are yet to be announced (watch this space).

Sunday night party

Our final night of official parties; we’ll run until midnight so you have plenty of time to say your goodbyes to old and new acquaintances.

Our band for the night will be Duncan Hemstock and His All Stars.

As with all of our official parties we’re at Limehouse Town Hall.

DJs are yet to be announced (watch this space).

After party

Monday is a bank (public) holiday in the UK so you might want to stay a little longer.

We’ll arrange some daytime activities for those so inclined (possibly even some more dancing in one of the parks) but alternatively you might want to nap, visit cake shops, and wait for the evening…

In the evening come and join us in our tiny cosy venue for The Balboa Café near the British Museum in Museum Street (handy for Holborn and Tottenham Court Road tube stops.) DJ British Dave and friends will give you music to shuffle to and we’ll see how many determined Bal dancers can fit on a miniscule dance floor. Cake and coffee are available from the café and it’s a Bring Your Own Bottle event so stiffer incentives are up to you…

Entrance at The Balboa Café will be free with your wristband or £5 for any friends you want to bring along.
